Sports TherapyOur sports therapists have an in-depth knowledge of human anatomy and physiologies helping them understand the dynamics of injury and the practicality of injury prevention.
Our team are fully equipped and skilled in the application of pre and post-exercise massage in order to prevent injury and enhance performance. They are also able to utilise exercise principles to optimise preparation and injury prevention programmes. Although our Sports and massage therapists may treat aches and pains and traumas caused by sport, the majority of disorders we treat are down to work, just general activity and/or posture, possibly the biggest culprit of all! Our treatments will always take into consideration the source of the problem which often is far away from the site of pain. For athletes at any level, sport therapists are able to utilise the principles of sport and exercise sciences incorporating physiological and pathological processes to prepare the participant for training and competition. They are also fully equipped in helping all individuals regain strength, improve mobility and muscular function allowing for better postural awareness, in short, our team of sports therapists are able to offer: Injury Prevention

KINESIO TAPING Personal Best also use Kinesio taping to help rehabilitate and speed up recovery. K tape is designed to mimic human skin and its properties allow it to be stretched by 30-40% of its resting length. It is a latex free material with acrylic adhesive, which is heat activated. The cotton fibres allow for evaporation and quicker drying leading to longer wear time, up to 4 days. The benefits of Kinesio taping include, correcting the alignment of weak muscles as well as facilitating joint motion as a result of the tape's recoiling qualities. Additionally, the tape is claimed to lift the skin, increasing the space below it, and increasing blood flow and circulation of lymphatic fluids (swelling). Life is movement; the Personal Best team are here to help you get moving and back to your sport or training as quickly and safely as possible with advice on your routine to avoid future injury. Dr Mark Porter MBE GP and medical correspondent Not only have Carl and the team at Personal Best helped us keep in shape, they have also made the whole process fun. And until I found PB I never associated gyms with fun. Indeed I hated them, which is why I never managed to stick with any fitness regime for more than a few months. The fact that we are still training at PB ten years after we first met Carl says it all really. |
